Brothers Romain and Jean-Guillaume rooted in Aloxe-Corton, decided to create their own domaine in 2009; Chapuis Frères. Based in Pommard, they make wines under two different labels, Chapuis Frères (cuvees classic), and Chapuis et Chapuis (cuvees no added sulfite).
The younger brother Romain, a flying winemaker who finally settled back in Burgundy, spent three years working with Philippe Pacalet. It was after this job that he decided to make his wine. ‘Chapuis & Chapuis’ was then started. The grapes come from their family vineyards or friends and organic growers. In the last couple of years, they have (due to poor weather conditions) bought organic grapes from other regions such as Alsace.
In the sky-rocketing Burgundy market where price seems to decouple with quality nowadays, Romain is making some of the best value for money Burgundy wines we have ever tasted.
