After working for Alice Bouvot of Domaine de l’Octavin (yes, the labels with gnomes) for years, the young man decided to go further and make his wine.
At Saint-Cyr-Montmalin, just slightly north of Arbois, Maxim owns a microscopic 0.7 hectares spread over 4 vineyards planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Savagnin, Gamay, and Rosette. Working with biodynamic principles in the vineyards and minimal intervention inside the cellar, the results are full of characters, wildness, energy, and passion, just exactly what we are pursuing from this little tiny land, not a Burgundian-Jura, but uniquely Jura!
His first vintage (2017) began with a heavy frost that resulted in extremely low yield, but still, his wines swiftly built a cult status, and seems like there is never enough quantity, like all other crazy stuff from this region! We are extremely proud to have secured a tiny parcel of his wines.
